Advice

In September 2000 I went off work with stress and this developed into severe depression. I couldn't even get myself to answer the phone. I thought I would be off work for a couple of weeks but was absent for 5 months. A year later I am still taking Seroxat (SSRI) and going to Cognitive Therapy which is great and keeps me going. I experience quite serious downers (suicidal thoughts) from time to time but am continuing to fight against it. I find reading books which help me understand depression and talking to those close to me helps. My advice would be don't suffer in silence. Talk to others, read about the illness, it is very common, get counselling, visit your doctor, take medication if you need, it's only one pill per day with no longterm sideeffects, it's worth it for your happiness. Do exercise, even a short walk and take time to yourself. A balanced lifestyle is so important in depression, and a healthy diet.
KEEP FIGHTING IT AND YOU WILL BEAT IT
