I am 36 and have suffered on and off from depression and self harm most of my life since my early teens, and I have only ever taken anti-depressants once. I know the pull yourself together sayings by others or the you have everything in life comments - but low self esteem and thoughts of self destrucion are hard to beat aswell as the constant battle and insecurity feelings in the head.
I can remember some really happy times in my life with lots of laughter and friends at the moment I dont feel alot again but I will get back to that place again with the support of my friends and my self deterimination - we have one life we have to live it to the best and continue fighting dont ever give up EVER
