I have been depressed and off work for two months now and I fear going back as my self confidence has taken a dive.
I find an activity that you need to focus on and concentrate on helps take away the negative thought pattern. I go sailing and it is not expensive if you can volunteer by helping disadvantaged people. I would suggest logging on to something like doit.org and then explore your interests.
Getting in to an activity even if it is for a few hours a week can help a lot.
Also you will meet like minded people.
At the end of the day think to yourself "what"s the worst that can happen?" You will not starve and you have shelter and fresh air. Fear I know for me plays a big part and therefore I am only taking tiny steps forward. That is all we should aim for until the storm is over.
Finally, I would advise not to take on too much and be honest with your self and others. tell them You can"t cope and it may ease things for you.
You are not alone. Look after you first and all else will surely follow.
