Case Studies

I am in a marriage of 13 years I have just confronted my wife about our marriage back in May of this year. Instead of tackling the issue head-on I talked with my mother for about 10 months before I got angry with my wife and have told her that I am emotionally shut down and don't know when I will be able to open up again. She wants to go to counseling but I don't want to hurt her so I say I want to go but then decide later that I don't want to go. She had an emotional break through and I opened up for a day and then as the week progressed I shut back down. I am confused about our relationship because we are opposites and we get along except when it come to the children. She thinks that I am being irrational about some things but I am over protected dad and she is relaxed mother because of the way she was raised. I feel depressed because of the way I have treated her and led her on. I love her and feel that I want to be married but feel confused at the same time. My mother is a manic depressive but takes no medication for it. I believe that I may have a case of depression but am stubborn about it.
