Case Studies

Despite only being 17 I feel I have had to grow up quickly over the past 5 years. My younger brother died in 2002 and since then things have gone from bad to worse, my mother went into deep depression due to grief. My father then became an alcoholic due to the strain of looking after her aswell as the grief of loosing a son.

Untill a few months ago I believed that I had gone through what has happened without any sever side effects. Despite the pain of loosing my brother I felt and acted normally. Untill I guess 2 years ago, between that time and now I think depression has crept up on me. It started by me feeling loney and gradually became worse. As I am speaking now I am come to terms with the fact that I may be depressed ( I have only reasontly come to this conclusion) my social life is all but gone, and I have no ambition to do anything, at the moment life feels pointless, like a dark cloud has decended over it that I cant remove. I often feel "scared" of life, and what it has to offer. Having read this website I have been ofered some comfort that im not alone. I just wish I could see a light at the end of the tunnel.
