For A Friend (bless you, angel)
Even though we have never held hands
Or walked, while we talked on golden sands
Or kicked a ball, between ourselves
Or discussed the merits of endless wealth
I'm here for you girl - I'll never let go
Forget the knife
I've dealt with too many
Bandaged them up and held their hands
Their blood and tears combine on the floor
I've listened and felt the grief
I've touched the void, the empty holes
and I've prayed at the end of every shift - not to become sanitised!
And I'm still here - I still care
