Self-help: Make no big decisions!

Make no big decisions!

This is very important. While you are depressed, your perception of the world is changed, and so you may be tempted to make some drastic changes to your lifestyle, job, love life, and so on. As an example, someone who's never wanted children may suddenly be overcome with the urge to have them, and regret it when the depression passes. Or they may decide to return to an old job in the hope of recapturing the pleasure of the past, only to find that the people who made that job interesting have long since moved on. Resist the urge to make big decisions, and remember this; you can always make changes to your life in six months' time if you're still sure that you need to, but any major decision made while you are depressed is unlikely to turn out to be a good one.
