Self-help: Keep a diary

Keep a diary

This is important, because writing things down allows you to view your emotions and thoughts objectively, from a distance. Some people find that their depression is less painful in the evening, while others find mornings to be less painful. Whichever, that's the time to write your diary. Be truthful; write down exactly what you feel and what you think. Do this every day, and as the weeks pass you'll be able to find out what aspects of your life are troubling you the most, so that you can work on counteracting them. You'll also be able to keep track of your progress in recovering from the depression.
